Cuban, Venezuelan, and Colombian restaurant Mojito celebrates over 25,000 meals donated to the University District Food Bank

First reported on Seattle's KOMO News, Cuban, Venezuelan, and Colombian restaurant Mojito announced that it has served over 25,000 meals via the Mojito Community Foundation. Now in its 15th year, sole owner Luam Wersom can't believe it. Reflecting on the why he continues to do it, Wersom states:

“I came through those trenches, I came from that product, so I am just returning a favor for what has been handed to me."

Serving nearly 400 meals per week, this two-part process starts with preparation on day one before packaging and delivering those meals on day two.  

Formed by a group of investors who also value food's value as a "source of dignity and connection", the foundation hosts volunteers twice a week, preparing meals for the University District Food Bank.

Optimistically, Wersom hopes the work they do at Mojito via  the Mojito Community Foundation and University District Food Bank will encourage others to volunteer or financially support those most in need.
